Bay of Islands Hockey Club

Bay of Islands Hocke was founded in 1947, when honorary member Phyllis “Chippy” Byers reignited the sport in Kaikohe. With land from the family farm, an old quarry was filled in, creating the current fields at Lindvart Park.

Hockey is far from new in the North, but it experienced a revival in 2008 with the construction of modern artificial turf pitches. For the past fifteen years, Phyllis entrusted the care of this facility to her daughter, Suzee.

With tireless dedication, Suzee worked day and night to raise the funds needed for new LED lighting, ensuring the local hockey community can continue to play in optimal conditions.

Lighting built for performance

The first goal was to upgrade the lighting and eliminate the problematic dark spots in the middle of the field. Thanks to precise positioning of our LED luminaires, uneven lighting is now a thing of the past.

We also wanted to make the facility accessible to Kaikohe Football Club, which previously trained without lighting. Since the old halogen system was already wired for both training and matches, we delivered a combined Lumosa LED solution that meets both requirements. The days of flickering shadows are truly over.

Suzee Ross – Treasurer

"The first thing our players noticed when the new lighting came on was the return of their four shadows, something they hadn’t seen since the halogen lights were installed. The new LED lighting is impressively bright and delivers outstanding results."
