Clube Ferroviário de Portugal offers a wide range of sports, cultural and recreational activities for members working across the country’s railway companies. With deep respect for Portugal’s rail heritage, the club has created a place where sport and community come together at the Complexo Desportivo de Marvila, better known as “Campo da CP”.
Lumosa LED upgrade at Ferroviário
At the Marvila Sports Complex, also known as “Campo da CP”, Clube Ferroviário de Portugal operates a full-size natural grass football pitch. The existing lighting system relied on conventional fixtures that no longer provided the conditions needed for quality play.
Lumosa was asked to deliver an LED lighting solution that meets both national and international standards for professional football.
After conducting a detailed site survey and lighting study, we defined the optimal layout. This included replacing the old masts with taller towers to reduce glare and improve overall light performance.
The installation
For the full-size synthetic pitch, we installed six CS860 Pro luminaires of 1,720 watts. The result is an average lighting level of over 120 lux and a uniformity of more than 0.6, which meets Class III of the European standard EN 12193:2018. To achieve this, the old 11-metre towers were replaced with new 15-metre towers.
The stadium is equipped with our LumosaTouch control system. This interactive web app allows users to manage the lighting via PC, tablet or smartphone. You can define different zones on the field and set the desired intensity per zone. This ensures you use only the lighting you need and maximise energy savings.
