Retrofit sports lighting
FC Varnhalt wanted to make the existing sports field lighting more sustainable without major modifications to the facility. Therefore, a retrofit solution was chosen in which the existing infrastructure was retained. The new LED lighting had to function entirely within the current field layout and existing mast positions.
The design was implemented using 8 existing masts with a mounting height of 16 meters. This allowed the sports complex to be equipped with modern LED sports lighting without a complete reconstruction of the installation.
Uniform lighting
Lumosa designed a lighting plan for the project using 8 CS860 luminaires equipped with light guides to reduce glare and light nuisance. By combining two different optics and precisely adjusting each luminaire, a uniform light distribution was achieved across the entire playing field.
The new installation meets the requirements for Class III football lighting, with an average illuminance of more than 75 lux. Uniformity also remained high, both at full power and while dimming the lighting. In addition, the installation was designed without upward light and with controlled glare values below GR < 55.
Smart retrofitting
Retrofitting sports lighting involves more than simply replacing luminaires. Especially at existing sports parks, it is about designing intelligently within the available space and infrastructure.
For FC Varnhalt, this resulted in an efficient solution featuring modern LED field lighting, minimal impact on the surrounding environment, and optimal playing conditions for athletes and club users. A future-proof installation where performance, sustainability, and comfort come together.
