New hockey facility
Hamilton Boys High School in Nieuw-Zeeland is known as one of the best secondary education centres in the country, serving more than two thousand students from the Waikato region and abroad. Excellence is central to the school’s core values, and there is a strong tradition in offering a wide range of extracurricular activities to students.
In 2019, the school embarked on an ambitious plan to install an FIH Global hockey field with internationally standard lighting. With the new Lumosa LED sports lighting, the field easily meets the requirement of over 500 lux for top-level teams. Want to know more?

A complete lighting solution
As part of a larger project, lighting was installed for the construction of a world-class FIH Global category hockey field for the passionate hockey enthusiasts at Hamilton Boys High School. The lighting included new 18-metre poles, electrical distribution and new Lumosa LED lighting. With an intensity of over 500 lux and excellent consistency, the lights are bright enough to even cut through the legendary mist of Hamilton.
A complete solution was proposed, starting with designing the lighting plan, applying for and obtaining building permits, and then supplying and installing the poles according to that plan. The project ran smoothly and was well-supported by local partners, such as Elektron Group. We wanted a solution that matched other LED-lit hockey fields in New Zealand, like Rangitoto College and Waikato Hockey at Gallagher Park.

It made sense for our community to have the same lighting solution as Waikato Hockey. Lumosa’s advice was invaluable and was completely professional throughout the project.
