LTA-Level lighting

At Heswall Lawn Tennis Club, the court lighting was completely upgraded to comply with the guidelines of the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA). The four courts are now illuminated with more than 400 lux and a minimum uniformity of 0.70. This provides a bright and consistent lighting distribution across the entire playing surface.

The old installation with 1 kW metal halide luminaires was replaced with a modern LED solution from Lumosa. The result is immediately noticeable: improved visibility, greater comfort, and optimal playing conditions for athletes of every level.

Smart lighting design for maximum uniformity

For courts 1 and 2, a combination of CS430 PRO.NXT and CS430 PRO luminaires was selected. Thanks to the modules’ asymmetric optics, the light is distributed precisely around the masts. The PRO.NXT optics ensure even light distribution across the entire court, with extra attention given to critical areas such as the net and service lines.

For courts 3 and 4, the surrounding environment played an important role. The proximity of residential properties required maximum control of light spill. Therefore, a combination of CS430 PRO.NXT, CS430 PRO, and CS260 PRO.NXT luminaires was used. By applying visors and targeted light control, the light remains focused on the courts while unwanted light spill into the surrounding area is prevented.

More evening use of the courts

In addition to energy savings of approximately 40%, the use of the courts has changed significantly. Whereas previously only a small proportion of members played in the evening, this number is expected to increase substantially.

The new lighting makes a difference when it matters most: more playing hours, more activity at the club, and an environment where lighting is not only functional, but also contributes to the overall sports experience.
