Efficient lighting for a thriving football club

Tabuense Sports Club places strong emphasis on youth development and fields a first team in the first Division of the Coimbra Football Association. The club is located at the Dr. António Oliveira and Costa Júnior Sports Park in Tábua, Coimbra.

To improve its sports infrastructure, the club secured funding from the Rehabilitation Program for Sports Infrastructures of the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth. Approval came with a focus on energy efficiency, enabling a modern and sustainable lighting upgrade that not only enhances pitch visibility but also lowers energy consumption and supports a future-proof sporting environment.

Energy savings and improved illumination

Lumosa was invited to develop an energy-efficient LED solution to replace the outdated fixtures. After a detailed light study, we installed eight CS860 Pro luminaires of 1 720 W each. The result is Class III lighting under the EN 12193:2018 standard with 150 lux on the playing field and uniformity above 0.7. This reliable, low-maintenance upgrade spotlights sporting performance while cutting energy costs.

Smart control with LumosaTouch

The club also chose LumosaTouch, our intuitive web application for intelligent light management. Users can easily select different pitch zones and adjust light levels to match each activity. Administrators can assign individual access rights for flexible control and maximum efficiency. The installation took place in April 2021. Three years later, we revisited Tabuense Sports Club to learn how the solution performs in practice.

The club’s monthly energy bill dropped from approximately € 700 to around € 350, a 50 percent reduction—an undeniably positive result.

Thanks to dynamic control with LumosaTouch, we enjoy significant energy savings. The system optimizes consumption and reduces manual intervention, resulting in lower costs and greater convenience.
