The World’s First Football Club – Sheffield Football Club is an English football club from Sheffield, South Yorkshire. They currently compete in the Northern Premier League Division One East. Founded in October 1857, the club is recognised by FIFA as the oldest existing club still playing football in the world.

One of the key requirements for the new lighting project at Sheffield FC was to save energy. The existing setup of 24 × 2 kW metal halide lamps consumed around 48 kW per hour. With approximately 250 hours of use per year, that amounted to annual energy costs of about £6,000. The switch to Lumosa luminaires reduced the number of lights to 12 and cut energy use by roughly 31 kW per hour, saving around £3,900 annually. Overall, the LED conversion reduced the club’s energy consumption by more than 60%.

Another requirement was improved control of the lighting system to support training sessions and walking football, which require lower light levels, while still delivering 200 lux for match days.
