Diocesan School for Girls

Located in Hamilton, Waikato Diocesan School for Girls has around 670 students, including 160 boarders. With a long-standing tradition of excellence, the school is widely recognised as one of the top-performing institutions in New Zealand academically, athletically and culturally.

Lighting in the spotlight

Hockey plays a key role in the school’s sports programme. The existing pitch had eight 10-metre masts and a total of twelve conventional 2 kW metal halide fixtures. The challenge was clear: achieve 500 lux, ensure a stable power supply, and deliver even light distribution across the field.

Lumosa installed two new 14.5-metre masts (the maximum height permitted by the local council) and fitted them with twenty CS860 Pro LED luminaires. Thanks to precise shielding and careful aiming, we met all strict glare and light spill requirements. The result: a world-class hockey facility with top-tier lighting.

Well done! We gave Lumosa a real challenge: improve the lighting while preserving as many existing masts as possible. The result is stunning. Once again, Lumosa delivered.
